The Cherokee County Schools have been closed to students and staff for several days because of a severe wildfire burning near the city of Casper, Wyoming, state officials announced Wednesday.
The Cherokee County Board of Education has been closed for a few days due to the fire burning near Casper Wyoming, which has burned over 500,000 acres in the last month.
The fire was contained and no students or staff have been evacuated from the schools, according to a statement from the Cherokee County School District.
The Casper Fire began on September 29 and has burned through more than 500,600 acres.
The wildfire has also damaged or destroyed hundreds of homes and businesses.
